Subliminal Messages Exist

24/07/2024 by

By Randall RIchards
I remember, some years ago, I made many attempts to see subliminal messages on television. I was told if you open and close your eyes at a fast rate you can sometimes catch words and phrases within the frames of shows, ads and the news. Try as I might I couldn’t see anything.

Years later my wife watched something on TVNZ Livestream, which she never does. She just wanted a diversion from our normal intake of “Truth Media” (as opposed to OFM, or “Old Fashioned Media”). She was watching a standard series of some sort, and suddenly saw words flash across the screen. I don’t recall what she saw, but she said it was rather disturbing, similar to “You are worthless” or the like. She decided to do a little research and this link popped up about a complaint made in 2008 to the NZ Broadcasting Standards Authority by a fellow named Micheal Bennett against TVNZ.

Mr Bennett said in the complaint that he was watching an episode of Eating Media Lunch when he stated that the message “Kill Yourself Now” had flashed onto the screen in a subliminal manner. He contended that the message had only lasted for “3 or 4 frames of the 25 in each second” and that “this method of subliminal advertising” had been banned world-wide.”
The complaint which can viewed here, stated, “During an episode of Eating Media Lunch, broadcast on TV2 at 10pm on 2 November 2007, the message “Kill Yourself Now” was displayed on the screen just before the programme’s opening credits. The message was only visible for a fraction of a second.”

TVNZ assessed the complaint under Standards 1, 2, 8 and 9, and guideline 8b of the Free-to-Air Television Code of Broadcasting Practice. which are:

Standard 1 Good Taste and Decency
In the preparation and presentation of programmes, broadcasters are responsible for maintaining standards which are consistent with the observance of good taste and decency.
Standard 2 Law and Order
In the preparation and presentation of programmes, broadcasters are responsible for maintaining standards which are consistent with the maintenance of law and order.
Standard 8 Programme Information
Broadcasters are responsible for ensuring that programme information and structure does not deceive or disadvantage the viewer.
Guideline 8b
Broadcasters should not use the process known as “subliminal perception” or any other technique which attempts to convey information to the viewer by transmitting messages below or near the threshold of normal awareness.
Standard 9 Children’s Interests
During children’s normally accepted viewing times broadcasters are required, in the preparation and presentation of programmes, to consider the interests of child viewers.

The complaints filed by Bennett specifically were:
“standards of good taste and decency, law and order, programme information and children’s interests had been breached. He argued that the message “Kill Yourself Now” had flashed onto the screen in a subliminal manner. He contended that the message had only lasted for “3 or 4 frames of the 25 in each second” and that “this method of subliminal advertising” had been banned world-wide.

“He had been deeply offended by the message and believed that suggesting suicide was both irresponsible and illegal. He considered that subliminal messaging was a powerful tool for implanting ideas into a viewer’s subconscious.”

“Bennett pointed out that the episode was available on TVNZ’s website and that this meant children and teenagers with access to a computer could watch the programme at any time. He stated that “children and teenagers are vulnerable and this sort of subliminal message may well push a depressed young person over the edge”.

And you’ll never guess what the decision by the Broadcasting Standards Authority was. All of the following issues were “not upheld” in other words, they BSA could not find fault with TVNZ:
Standard 1 (good taste and decency) – contextual factors – not upheld
Standard 2 (law and order) – item did not encourage viewers to break the law or promote, condone or glamorise criminal activity – not upheld
Standard 8 (programme information) – action taken by the broadcaster sufficient – not upheld
Standard 9 (children’s interests) – standard not applicable – not upheld

In short the Authority ignored Bennett’s complaint, based on the laughable defense of TVNZ which stated:

TVNZ stated that “the message had been broadcast after the introduction featuring the “coming up section” and that it was intended to be an ironic and humorous comment* on the material that was going to follow. It pointed out that during different episodes of the programme other messages of “the same ilk” had flashed up before the beginning credits including “napalm the pakeha”, “mysky = small penis” and “Tame Iti = Bin Laden?”. adding, “The broadcaster argued that the phrase was not meant to be threatening or aggressive “nor was it meant to imply that the viewer should kill themselves”. It considered that the phrase was ironic and that it would be understood as a joke by regular viewers of Eating Media Lunch. TVNZ believed that material of this nature was acceptable in the context of an AO-rated programme, which was preceded by a warning and broadcast at 10pm. It declined to uphold the good taste and decency complaint.”

TVNZ argued that “for a programme to breach this standard it must actively promote disrespect for the law. It reiterated its argument that the programme was well-known for its satirical comedy and that it often contained footage and behaviour that was challenging. It maintained that the phrase was not meant to be taken as a directive but was intended to be a humorous comment on the material that was to come. The broadcaster believed that the phrase did not promote disrespect for the law. It declined to uphold the Standard 2 complaint.

In conclusion, through first-hand eyewitness accounts (my wife included), subliminal messaging does still exist, certainly in NZ. Thanks to the internet, facts don’t go away for those that are willing to do a little research. Again, quoting Mark Twain, “A lie gets half-way around the world before Truth gets a chance to put its pants on.” I’m rooting for truth.

Make Injustice Visible

Make injustice visible”. Mahatma Gandhi

The article below by Mary Hobbs of the Daily Telegraph, is about my friend Liz Gunn, who was assaulted, (along with her camerman) by NZ Police at a public airport.  Whether you’re reading this in New Zealand or elsewhere, and you care about your freedoms, I urge you to read the whole article and see the brief video clip of the assault, (also linked in article.) I finally saw the footage just now, and was nauseated to see a peaceful friend being thrown to the floor and injured in what may well have been a pre-planned assault.

Liz Gunn and cameraman assaulted by NZ Police

If it can happen to her, it can happen to one of you.  Just stay in line, and you’ll be fine, but for how long.

Kudos to Mary Hobb for writing this article.

IS NEW ZEALAND HOVERING ON THE BRINK OF A POLICE STATE?

By Mary Hobbs

The rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. — President John F. Kennedy

Imagine arriving at Auckland International airport on a Saturday afternoon to meet friends flying in from overseas. You gather other Kiwis there for the same purpose, in a festive sense of anticipation. While chatting with your friend, who arrived with his best camera to record the happy occasion, you are singled out by a security worker who mistakenly considers you’re there to commercially film. With a sense of disquiet at being singled out, you explain that you are not there in a commercial capacity, but the airport employee says — regardless of your explanation — that you are going to be trespassed and the police will be called. Read the rest of the story here.

Bourdain’s Last Supper?

02/06/2024 by

By Randall Richards

I started this blog some 18 years ago with the broad stroke of travel advice, mountain guiding and expedition experiences and learnings from other cultures. Now, as I travel in Vietnam, I’m more interested in the people, plus the interesting discussions or tidbits I’m learning in light of the current state of global affairs. What seemed normal is no longer. What was once 2+2=4 is now an upside-down world in our national and local governments, schools and communities. I heard a saying the other day, “The difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth is six months”, except the time has shortened to 6 days”. that person further explained that those in power no longer need to stand behind their lies for very long. They get what they want out of the situation, then fess up and tell the truth later, (buried on page 12) then move on to the next deception, leaving the public bewildered.

My family and I happened to go to a well-known “Bun Cha” street food restaurant in Hanoi recently, and found a poster of Obama and Anthony Bourdain sitting at one of the tables.

My guess is Bourdain was showing Obama around some of the sweetspots in Vietnam’s capital.

“Don’t step ouf of line, mate”,The caption, “Suat an Obama” reads, “Obama dines”

But allow me some conjecture: I remember hearing rumours that Bourdain was “suicided” and had told close friends he wasn’t suicidal, and that “if anything happens to me, I didn’t take my own life”. I’d have to do some digging to dredge up what I had seen. Of course a quick look on search engines only** brought up “OFM” (Old Fashioned Media) headlines the likes of “The Dark Final Texts”, and “Tragic Final Moments”, by the likes of the Huff Post and NYT. Do I trust those sources? Not anymore. In fact, I’ve got my BS meter tuned to “high” lately.

While eating at the restaurant, and contemplating the large poster of the the two sitting facing each other, I couldn’t help  but wonder if Obama was telling Bourdain to “Stay in line, or else”. I had read that Bourdain was questioning “the official narrative” of the globalist agenda and was planning on going public with his opinion.

But then again, maybe it was just a quiet dinner in Vietnam’s capital.

New Book about Wellington Protest Tells What Really Happened on Parliament Grounds

14/05/2024 by

Freedom Village, The story of the 2022 New Zealand Convoy and Freedom Village Camp at Parliament Grounds

Freedom Village is a new book by Sue Grey and Alan Simmons. It’s the people’s story of the “controversial” 2022 occupation of the New Zealand Parliament grounds. It’s a confronting story of hope, courage, collaboration and determination in the face of abuse of state power.

Grey says of the people who contributed their stories to the book that “The story was in them, and they wanted to get it out to the the public. Creating the book was similar to the energy that was present at the protest, very inspiring.” Grey adding, “Now it’s time to get the story told. I thought I knew the story because I was there, but now I have a fuller picture of what happened, as told from other’s perspectives and experiences who were there.”

People united to reclaim freedoms from government overreach. They soon learned that the real battle line was for control of information, and for the public mind and mood.
The authors were there from the beginning and record this historic event revealing shocking information many would prefer to remain hidden.

This book is a historic record of the 23-day protest camp, and has information, hidden from the public. This publication goes hand-in-hand with other excellent projects in New Zealand, such the films River of Freedom, and We Came here for Freedom, which expose the truth of what really happened at the protest against government overreach and media manipulation at the behest of powerful forces. Much of the untold story would have remained hidden without the startling revelations in this book.

From the book’s website:
“Each generation needs a war, or a Woodstock, to remind us of what it is to be human, the magic of people power and the rewards of finding the courage to step up for humanity. Our Woodstock was the Freedom Village at New Zealand’s Parliament grounds in Wellington for 23 days starting 8 February 2022″.

“Perhaps our most important role is to sprinkle seeds of inspiration, hope, courage, aroha [love] and unity

About the Authors

Sue Grey is a self-employed lawyer who specialises in complex emerging issues. She is also co-leader of NZ Outdoors and Freedom Party and one of New Zealand’s freedom heroes.
Sue has a double major in Biochemistry and Microbiology and RSHDipPHI. Her first career was as a Health Protection Officer where she worked for central government included investigating infectious diseases and contact tracing – perfect training for her to spot the many red flags with the unorthodox Covid response

.

Alan Simmons lives in Turangi, NZ, and for the last 50 years worked as a full time fishing and hunting guide. The Covid response put an end to international travel and clients and in 2022 he was forced to retire by police thuggery when his hip was fractured in a police action while he was standing on a street corner filming.

Sue suggests you and others request your local library to have their it on their shelves. Or one can donate to their library. Also mention it to your local bookseller.

You can purchase the book here.

Here’s what filmmaker & journalist Alistair Harding (We Came Here for Freedom) has to say about the book:
Sue and Alan have created a book that will be worthy of the very Kiwi descriptor: ‘Taonga’, for our nation’s history.   This book is a treasure because it is a first-hand account in the absence of any true journalism of the time. And so one day this story will be the source material that historians will turn to. Where they will find a vast difference between the voices of the people who were there and the narrative spun by a news media that mostly appeared incapable of any empathy for their fellow New Zealanders who had had their lives destroyed by the vaccine mandates.

Tucker Carlson Interviews Trudeau’s Brother

13/05/2024 by

Few people know Justin Trudeau better than his own brother. Here’s what he, Kyle Kemper, says about him.

From the interview transcript:
“Most people in Western countries and the United States and Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, etc., most people who lived in those countries two years ago got the Covid vaccine. That’s just a fact. And maybe because of that fact, very few people want to talk about what that was, not just what the vaccine itself was and what it may do to the human body and the human brain. Those are worthy conversations, important conversation, necessary conversations, ignored conversations. But the bigger conversation is why were governments across the West pulling out all stops to force people to take this compound that they called a vaccine? What was this and what did we learn about the motives and the aims of those governments by their behavior around the vaccine? What did we learn?”

Reality Check Radio: Off-Aire, Watch Full Story

12/04/2024 by

Our favorite* New Zealand radio station is off-air. It’s time we consider what it will look like without RCR in our daily lives. I know I’ve taken the online streaming station a bit for granted financially. I’m still working on plans to have a micro FM transmitter broadcasting from here at Mountain Spirit, so we can’t them be off the air.

I’ve pulled a quote from friend Roy Champtaloup who makes the plea better than I:
RCR is an absolute treasure trove of important, fascinating facts via the free speech of its excellent guests. It is not mainstream lies that hoodwinks & scares our beautiful trusting population into submission and compliance. Please donate & support this outstanding vital media organisation today. I respectfully recommend committing to a monthly amount. Do you agree access to all these amazing real ‘experts’ and their truthful facts is worth at least $1/day ($30/month)? .. maybe $2/day ($60/month) maybe not even the cost of a coffee a day $5 … ie $150/month) ? or even more? Please contribute whatever you can …. starting now. We need to keep free speech alive. Our grandchildren are depending on us. We can’t let them down.

Author’s Note: * Yeah, I know. I have to use it once in a while. “Favourite” is still cool, but I am a Yankee too.

Truth and Lies, Time for Feedback

11/04/2024 by

By Randall Richards

I thought I’d take the opportunity to share the feedback form I just completed for the Aspiring Conversation’s “Truth and Lies” event last 6th of April here in Wanaka, NZ. The only thing I screwed up, that I can see, is I failed to capture the screenshot of questions 9 and 10 on this feedback form. So I recreated the that screen shot the best I could, otherwise it’s all from their SurveyMonkey form.

Truth & Lies, in Their Own Words

10/04/2024 by

By Randall Richards

The Truth and Lies event held recently in Wanaka, NZ, was a part of the Aspiring Conversation series, under of the greater Festival of Colour event. A number of my free-thinking friends and I attended, and although recording and filming the event was not approved, a good audio copy was captured, and we’ll let you decide for yourself how on-target the speakers were on major issues facing us such as freedom of speech, the internet – platforms such as Telegram, and… Fear. Yes you read that correctly: Fear was a dominent theme we picked up in both presenters and the audience. Barry Young once mentioned that he’d love to be inside their (the panelist’s) head to see what makes them say and think what they do.

Alistair Harding eloguently stated this morning when he was interviewing Roy Chantaloup and me, that the panelests are making a last gasp effort of stating their revelence when it’s clear the OFM, Old Fashioned Media, and the lies it pumps out, are fading into oblivion. It’s not happening fast enough, but it is happening.

Anyway, here’s the audio of that “dialogue” where no Q&A were allowed, nor opposing views.

Another conclusion Alistair, Roy and I came to, was when the day comes that our community hosts a Truth event here in Wanaka, we will certainly invite Kate Hannah, Souixsie Wiles, Kathy Ferguson and Bryon C. Clarke to to have a civil discussion. We are not racists, nor “alt-right” nor conspiracy theororists. We are humans, as they are, seeking a dialogue. We will seek to fulfull the vision statement of which the Festival of Colour, and Aspiring Conversations attempt woefully fell short. This event was a lost opportunity, but there will be more ahead here in Wanaka. Our community will see to it. Please attend when you see the announcement.

Author’s Note: There will be a transcript of this audio track published here soon. Stay tuned.
